Keeping a blog is like keeping a house. An internet house, but a house all the same.

I love blogging. I really do. I love the whole idea of keeping a pretty journal full of pictures and vignettes from my life. Others may enjoy it if they wish, but no pressure. I can put things in it if I want, no pressure. But best of all, redecorating is loads cheaper than redecorating my actual house.

Fall cleaning has been happening at my (real aka non-internet) house this week. I do this pretty much every change of seasons. And when I start cleaning I start thinking about my life. And when I start thinking about my life I start setting goals and making changes. So, basically, I end up re-organizing my life every season. And since this blog is a general reflection of my life, it gets a bit of an overhaul every season too.

This blog is my baby. My my art project, if you will.  I'm always looking for ways to improve this place; the pictures, the writing, the design. As part of my plan to pursue excellence here on my blog I have some goals for the coming season.

I'm sharing them here in bullet form because bullets are wonderful (duh) and because if I share them I will feel somewhat obligated to follow through (come on internet, give me some accountability!). So without further adieu, this are my intentions for the Fall:
  • Post more.
    • Posting once a week is not acceptable. I want to force myself to either write or take a good picture for the blog at least 3 times a week.
  • Diversify.
    • I'd like to post more pictures and not just of Gideon. I'd like to post a video or two or even a poem. Maybe a song?
  • Connect with other bloggers.
    • I read a lot of blogs. I almost never comment. A large number of people read my blog. Very, very few comment. I suspect there is a correlation and I would like to remedy the lack of comments on both ends.
  • Participate in NaBloPoMo 2011.
    • I've participated in NaBloPoMo in both 2009 and 2010. With mostly good results and only a few cop out posts. I hope this year to have even better content and no cop out posts.
And what about you, dear reader? Do you have any goals for the coming season? Do you have any suggestions on what might be a fun addition to the blog? Something you'd like to see that haven't for awhile? Also, what you think of the new blog design?

  1. I like that you consider your blog a piece of art. That's awesome.

And I like your hair. It's more than awesome. =)

  2. I like your blog's subtitle :-)

  3. I really like how your new blog looks, but the header you had was super nice and seemed to show how you were both mother and wife and happy about it. Long story short, I think you should out the old header back up :D

  4. I love your blog! And you're right... I read and forget to comment. Same thing happens on my blog. Sometimes it's enough to know that you're heard though.

Thanks for being so diligent. You are an inspiration to me!!

  5. Hello Dearie,
How about a new header, like the old one, but with new photos? Also, I love this picture of you - adorable! Is there a way you can email me a copy? And I really enjoy your blog because it helps me see things through your eyes.
    Love you!

  6. I like the new layout! Very simple and clean :) I agree with you on the commenting thing...I had been thinking about that lately, too. I read a lot of blogs, but rarely comment. So silly :) (Thus, my commenting now.)

  7. I think the new layout will grow on me the way facebook's new layouts do, mostly because my eyes were already quite content with the old. Great photo at the end of this post -- that hair color makes you look radiant.

  8. I approve of everything in this post. Especially the new layout! :D

For me I have trouble keeping up posting on my blog because I often feel like I don't have anything worthwhile to say, or that whatever I'd say would just bore people. So then I don't post anything. I should try to find a way around that.

  9. I don't like the new design at all. Sorry, I hate it.

Muse with me. Please?
