Homemade Butterfingers

Yup, that's right folks. I made homemade butterfingers. Except, I don't really think they're home made... I'd just call them "cheaper butterfingers" and here's why. The two ingredients which I used to make them were peanut butter and... get ready for it... candy corn.

First I mixed melted the candy corn in the microwave. Then I mixed in an equal part of peanut butter. Lucky for me my bag of candy corn corresponded perfecting to my jar of cheap peanut butter.

 Then I just spread it in a foil lined pan and stuck it in the fridge for a couple hours. After it had hardened I cut it into bars.
Then I melted half a bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips. If I wasn't lazy I'd have done this in a bouble broiler. But since I AM lazy I just did it in a pan. I probably could have also done it in the microwave.
 Then, using a frosting spreader I covered the bars in chocolate.
And TA-DA! Butterfingers! The taste and texture is remarkably close to the original. Only they get less crunchy when warm. And I wish I'd covered mine in milk chocolate instead of semi-sweet.

I now have about 12 of these in my fridge but, due to stupid pregnancy weirdness, I'm currently suffering from a butterfinger  aversion. Does someone want to come take these off my hands?

  1. Please mail them to us! I never thought to use candy corn as an ingredient, I always eat them straight. Who knew? They sure look tasty.
